italian kitchen design trends 2015

there's 3 big trends that we wanted to explore this year. we wanted to look at the idea of artisanalkitchens - kitchens that are almost handcrafted and authentic that have a very decorativetraditional feel. we also wanted to look at how appliances integratewith very minimal contemporary kitchens - we wanted to explore how appliances are almostdisappearing into cabinetry. and we also wanted to look into ambiant technology- this idea of how voice and user interfaces are affecting how people cook in the kitchen. i think what is interesting about these 3 conceptsis that they are all equally weighted. we are seeing the growth of artisanal kitchensand artisanal appliances.

folks are reacting a little bit to highlyminimal austere spaces. there is a need to look at decorative or artisanalpieces to fit that. on the minimal side, this is a trend we'vebeen watching emerge for years, alot of folks are reacting against that traditional stuff andwanting a sleeker, cleaner look in their kitchen. from a technology standpoint, technology isalways evolving and making products easier for people to use so that is a trend thatwe think will happen as well. one of the things that really excited me aboutthis exercise is all the different materials and finishes and the combinations of thosematerials and finishes that each of the designers brought to these concepts.

whether it was the glass that was secret tolit on the minimal set, some of the mesh and some of the warm finishes that we're lookingat on the artisanal set, and even some of the very warm metallics and some of the bleached wood that we're looking at on the hybrid set are really unique. some of these trends are already appearing in appliances. for example, we just launched geneva, in partnershipwith amazon, that allows us to voice activate appliances through our connected system. i think for us, when we think about innovation, its really a long term game. so, we spend a lot of time talking to kitchendesigners, interior designers, and folks that really understand technology and we try tobuild over time expertise and build concepts

and evolve those concepts over time with the idea that we can take these concepts to production down the road
