my name is mauro dell'orco. i'm a furniture maker and an architect. i've always been fascinated by by woodworking. i come from the dolomite region in italy and i was surrounded as a child by woodland. i got my firstwoodworking tools when i was six. i studied architecture and i worked for ten years and and then i had the feeling that i had to start again to make something out of wood. i went on a course here

in london and i got my diploma in fine woodworking. i won the medal for excellence during at the end of my diploma, here in london. best designer for the society of designer craftsman. the livery company of the carpenters made me a freemen of london. as soon as i see the project and the object, or i see the piece, i can start thinking how to make it, and can give to the client quite a precise idea about the timeline of the project. but, i think the falcon box was the most

strange; it goes to the top of the tower in the in city of london. the shape resemble a bit of an egg. having this huge egg on the top of a building would be fun. of course i sketch the ideas at the beginning. i produce a presentation board and usually i produce also a model. i think there is something special inbeing involved in the process of making, or having something made for you.

it's not just that it is one-off, it's also something that you really like. every time is a different experience when you talk with a client; there is not the standard or usual client, they're all different, they look for something special.
